NEW ORLEANS – Only a month after Tulane University filed suit against the City of New Orleans for creating an Interim Zoning District (IZD) to halt plans to construct a new football stadium, the City Planning Commission has voted in favor of Tulane’s plans.
The Commission voted 7-1 with one abstention to recommend a denial of the IZD that would disallow construction of the stadium.
The plan will have to receive approval from the City Council before the IZD is lifted.
Tulane filed suit on May 16 claiming that the IZD imposed by the City Council was illegal and unenforceable.
The Tulane University Educational Fund is represented by John M. Landis of New Orleans-based Stone Pigman Walther Wittman, LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
