GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a national retail chain for injuries she claims to have received in a fall at the store.
Danneel Larkin filed suit against Wal-Mart Louisiana, LLC and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 6. Larkin claims that she was shopping at the Wal-Mart in Kenner when she stepped on a slippery substance, believed to be a grape, and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges the fall resulted in painful and disabling injuries that required medical treatment.
The defendant is accused of permitting a hazardous slippery condition, creating a hazard, failing to exercise reasonable care, failing to warn of the hazard and failing to employ adequate and regular clean-up procedures.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity and permanent disability.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Robert M. Murphy.
