NEW ORLEANS - A Rochester, Ind. woman is suing a New Orleans hotel for damages due to alleged exposure to an illness-inducing bacteria during the course of her stay.

Sandra J. Rose, and husband Roger, filed a lawsuit against Homewood Suites Management LLC, Apple Seven Services New Orleans LP, Apple Seven Management Services New Orleans GP, Apple Reit Seven Inc., Ecolab Inc. and Federal Insurance Company in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Feb. 25.

Rose claims that her contraction and diagnosis of Legionnaire’s disease was due to exposure to Legionella in the pool and hot tub. As a result of the contraction of the disease she suffered diminished lung function, spent several days on a ventilator in the critical care unit and intensive care unit and had to undergo physical therapy.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to properly upkeep the hotel's pool and hot tub.

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for the steadily accumulating medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of physical function and loss of enjoyment of life.

Counsel for the plaintiff is attorney John H. Denenea Jr. of New Orleans.

This case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.

Case no. 2013-01740.
