GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local doctor she claims is to blame for allegedly leaving a foreign object in her body during a total knee replacement.

Darlene Theriot filed suit against Deryk Jones M.D. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 29.

The defendant is accused of medical malpractice.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medcial and pharmaceutical expenses, physical and mental pain, suffering, discomfort, scarring, disfigurement, loss of function, impairment and loss of enjoyment of life.

Theriot is represented by Dexter A. Gary of Houma-based Lirette & Gary LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.

Case no. 727-456.
