NEW ORLEANS – A woman is suing a construction company for obstructing a walkway in such a way that she was allegedly injured in a trip and fall.
Wanda Thompson filed suit against Wautashi Construction Inc. and their insurance company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Thompson claims that when she attempted to step over a pile of wood strewn across the sidewalk on the way to a neighbor’s house, she tripped and fell.
Wautashi Construction is accused of failing to discard and/or secure its materials, failing to exercise the appropriate cautions and reasonable care to prevent the hazardous situation that it allegedly created. The company is also accused of negligence for improperly training its employees and allowing the obstruction of a pedestrian’s normal path.
An undisclosed amount in damages is sought for past and future medical expenses, lost wages, lost earning capacity, past and future general damages, pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of love and affection, loss of consortium and loss of enjoyment of life.
The plaintiff is represented by Anthony J. Impastato of Frischhertz, Poulliard, Frischhertz & Impastato LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
