Brett+m

GRETNA – A local doctor is being sued by the family of a deceased nursing home resident for allegedly allowing the man's health to deteriorate to the point of malnourishment and dehydration.

Carolyn D. Domingo, Gerard J. Domingo Jr. and Wade H. Domingo filed suit against Dr. George Bryan Singletary in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 4.

The Domingos claim that their patriarch, Gerard J. Domingo Sr., was living at the Chateau Living Center of Kenner, which was under the care and supervision of Dr. Singletary, when his health began to deteriorate.

The plaintiffs allege that Gerard Sr.’s sudden health issues were directly related to inadequate care provided by the defendant and that he subsequently died on Sept. 14, 2012.

The defendant is accused of negligence including allowing deceased’s health to deteriorate, failing to properly nourish and hydrate deceased, failing to properly monitor and respond to deceased’s changing vital signs, hiring and retention of incompetent staff and failing to properly train staff in care of deceased.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for death, bedsores, trauma, sepsis, malnutrition, pain and suffering and multiple medical problems.

The Domingos are represented by attorney Brett M. Dupuy of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.

Case no. 733-496.
