Wal-Mart sued by customer who claims she was severely injured in slip and fall

GRETNA – A corporate retailer is being sued by a customer who claims she was severely injured after slipping and falling in a wet substance.

Nquit T. Vu filed suit against Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC, Wal-Mart and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 3.

Vu claims that on Oct. 7, 2013 she was a patron at the Wal-Mart located at 1501 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey when she was in the coffee aisle and slipped and fell on a wet substance on the floor. The plaintiff alleges she received severe and permanent injuries.

The defendant is accused of not maintaining the floors, not placing a floor mat in the area, not placing warning signs in the area to warn patrons of the wet floor, failing to warn patrons of potential dangers, failing to inspect the premises, failing to properly train and monitor employees and violating state law.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for loss of sleep and proper rest, medication, mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, medical expenses, disability, loss of lifestyle, loss of wages and loss of earning potential.

Vu is represented by Leo J. Palazzo of Gretna-based Palazzo Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
