NEW ORLEANS – Following an automobile accident, a New Orleans-based nun is suing the allegedly responsible driver, the car's owner and the owner's insurer.

Sister Vincent Marie Wilson of the Franciscan Handmaids of Mary filed suit against Christian Green, Jasmine Martin and Progressive Security Insurance Company in the New Orleans Parish Central District Court on Aug. 7.

Sister Vincent claims that on Aug. 7, 2013 she was driving when Green made a left turn against a traffic light and collided with her vehicle. The plaintiff's vehicle was totaled, while Green was arrested at the scene for failure to provide proof of insurance, the suit claims.

Sister Vincent alleges that she has sustained severe and permanent personal injury as a result of the accident, including back, neck, shoulder, and pelvic injuries. The plaintiff has undergone extensive medical treatment and physical therapy, says the suit. At the time of the petition's filing, Sister Vincent was unable to perform common daily tasks due to continued pain and disability.

The plaintiff asserts that she has also suffered mental distress including shock, depression, anxiety and problems sleeping.

Christian Green is accused of negligence, including failure to maintain proper control of the vehicle, operating a vehicle in a careless and reckless manner, failing to obey the traffic laws of Orleans Parish and traveling at too great a speed. Progressive Insurance is Jasmine Martin's insurer for the vehicle involved in the incident.

The plaintiff prays for an unknown amount in damages for past, present, and future physical and mental pain and suffering, as well past, present and future medical bills.

Sister Vincent Marie Wilson is represented by Paul C. Miniclier of the Law Office of Paul C. Miniclier.

The case has been assigned to District D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.

Case no. 2014-07779.
