City of Kenner sues motorists over damage to signs during accident

GRETNA – Two motorists who were involved in a car accident are being sued by The City of Kenner for allegedly destroying a city owned subdivision sign.

The City of Kenner filed suit against Adam Joseph Jr., State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, Michael Torbert Jr. and Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 29.

The City of Kenner alleges that on Aug. 5, 2014 there was collision between two trucks owned by Joseph and Torbert.

The defendants are accused of failing to use reasonable diligence, failure to yield, failure to maintain a proper lookout and careless operation of a motor vehicle.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for reimbursement for the cost of the sign.

The City of Kenner is represented by Francine Weaker of the City of Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
