Cheesecake Factory sued over customer’s alleged slip and fall on greasy floor

GRETNA – A local restaurant is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured in a slip and fall on a greasy floor.


Janine Perez filed suit against Cheesecake Factory Restaurants Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 5.

Perez claims she was a customer at the Cheesecake Factory located in the lakeside Mall at 3301 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie when she slipped on a greasy floor and fell. The plaintiff alleges that due to the incident she received injuries to her knees, hands, stomach and back.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly inspect the area, failing to promptly maintain the premises, failing to warn of danger, failing to use reasonable and prudent care and failing to have wet floor sign present.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.

Perez is represented by attorney A.J. Rebennack of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
