NEW ORLEANS – A woman is suing the owner of her apartment complex following a slip and fall she claims occurred as a result of a leaky air conditioner.

Chandrika Chambliss filed suit against Chateau d'Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Feb. 2.

The plaintiff states that she was in her apartment on July 24, 2014 when she suddenly slipped and fell due to fluid leaking from the air conditioner. She claims that the defendant owned and maintained said property and was aware of this problem and the fall resulted in serious injuries to her neck, back and head.

The plaintiff claims negligence on part of the defendant in failing to properly inspect the area and warning of this dangerous condition as well as failure in properly maintaining said premises.

The plaintiff seeks an unspecified amount in damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, and loss of earning capacity.

The plaintiff is represented by Metairie-based attorney A.J. Rebennack.

This case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.

Case no. 2015-00931.
