A New Orleans man is suing the city of New Orleans after he tripped and fell on a loose brick on a public street and injured his left shoulder, according to a suit filed April 8 in Orleans Parish District Court.

Filed on behalf of Edmond Harris by New Orleans attorney Steven Koenig, the suit claims that Harris tripped "due to a brick which had dislodged from a border to a planter built into the city sidewalk" in front of the house of New Orleans resident John Vinson.

The suit names the City of New Orleans and Vinson as defendants and claims they are liable for "permitting and allowing a brick from a planter to become loose and fall onto the sidewalk creating a dangerous and unsafe condition."

The suit is pleading for the City of New Orleans and/or John Vinson to pay for Harris's medical expenses as well as lost wages.
