Winn-Dixie customer claims foreign substance on floor caused accident

Labourdette

A New Orleans woman is suing Winn-Dixie after she slipped and fell in one of the supermarket's stores in New Orleans East, according to a suit filed in Orleans Parish District Court.

New Orleans Attorney Scot Labourdette filed the suit May 6 on behalf of Orleans Parish resident Losiram Carraby. The suit claims Carraby "slipped on a foreign substance on the floor" of a Winn-Dixie store.

The suit alleges that Carraby fell on May 10, 2009, but doesn't specify the injuries she sustained. It also claims that Winn-Dixie is liable for "failing to properly maintain and clean the floor" or "warn of the hazards and defects" of the floor.

This is the sixth liability suit filed against Winn-Dixie in Orleans Parish this year.
