A Georgia man is suing a hotel chain after allegedly slipping in water that had accumulated on a marble floor.
Nathaniel White, Jr. filed suit against Marriott International June 10 in Orleans Parish District Court.
White says that on June 11, 2009, he slipped and fell in a puddle of water that had accumulated on a marble floor near the elevators on the 11th floor of the Marriott property. White claims he suffered significant injuries to his wrist, shoulder, neck and knee.
Marriott International is accused of negligence for creating an unreasonable risk of harm, failing to do what it should have done and see what it should have seen in order to avoid accidents of this type, failing to maintain its premises to ensure that a hazardous condition did not create a dangerous condition and having actual notice of the dangerous condition.
White is seeking damages for physical pain and suffering, mental pain, anguish, distress, medical expenses, lost wages, impairment of earning capacity, residual disability, loss of use, loss of enjoyment of life, plus interest and court costs.
Baton Rouge attorney Anderson O. Dotson, III of Dotson Firm is representing White.
Judge Robin M. Giarrusso is assigned to the case.
