Platform worker claims slip and fall injuries

Louisiana resident Wilbur H. Bickham has filed a lawsuit against ATP Oil & Gas Corp. after he slipped and fell. The lawsuit was filed Aug. 17 in federal court in New Orleans.

The alleged incident occurred Aug. 25, 2009 after Bickham was sent to a second platform to work. At the second location, he slipped and fell. He claims he suffers from ruptured and herniated discs, nerve damage and injury to his left knee.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to provide a safe place to work, proper equipment and personnel, failing to discover and correct all unsafe conditions, failing to warn, inspect, maintain and repair the premises and for premise liability.
Bickhan is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain, mental anguish, disability, interest, court costs and attorney fees.

Bickham is represented by Lawrence Blake Jones and Kristi A. Post of Scheuermann & Jones in New Orleans.

U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon is assigned to the case.
