Woman asks to be re-named executor after losing will in Katrina

An Orleans Parish woman is asking to be reinstated as executor of her deceased husband's will.

Bessie Nelson filed that request Aug. 26 in Orleans Parish District Court.

Nelson says her husband, Leroy Anthony Nelson Sr., died February 1989. She says she was named executor of his original will. However, when Nelson was forced to evacuate during Hurricane Katrina, she says she misplaced that original document which was signed December 1987. Nelson says she has been unable to contact the notary public who notarized the two-page testament.

Nelson is asking to be appointed as executor of her late husband's estate. She is represented by attorney George S. Ruppenicker, of Harvey.
