French Art Network co-owner sues partner over unpaid bonuses

A co-owner of the French Art Network is suing his partner for seven years worth of unpaid bonuses.

Scott Novick filed the lawsuit against Rick M. Sutton and French Art Network LLC Sept. 20 in Orleans Parish District Court.

Novick accuses Sutton and the company of a breach of fiduciary responsibility, breach of contract and gross negligence.

According to the complaint, Novick and Sutton began French Art Network in June 2000. In November 2000, Novick says the two agreed that he would be paid a yearly salary along with 10 percent of all sales above $250,000.

Novick claims Sutton misappropriated or failed to pay the 10 percent bonus owed by the French Art Network from 2003 through 2009. He argues the withholding of funds constitutes gross negligence and a breach of fiduciary duty owed to Novick.

Novick is asking to be compensated lost profits, bonuses and commission along with attorney fees and court costs.

Attorney Ginger K. DeForest of Metairie is representing Novick.
