Woman sues St. Tammany Parish hospital after tripping on a restroom drain cover

A New Orleans woman is suing a St. Tammany Parish hospital and its insurance company after hurting herself in a fall while visiting the medical facility.

Deborah F. Davis filed the lawsuit against Crescent City Health Care Center Inc. and XYZ Insurance Company Oct. 11 in Orleans Parish District Court.

Davis says she was visiting a friend at Crescent City Health Care Center in June when she caught the heel of her shoe on a loose drain cover in a restroom. Davis says she lost her balance, hit her head on the wall and fell to bathroom floor.

Davis says Crescent City Health Center should have known about the loose drain cover prior to her fall. She contends the St. Tammany Parish hospital and its insurance carrier, XYZ Insurance Company, are liable for her medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

Davis is asking for an unspecified amount of money and requests a jury trial. She is represented by Carl A. Butler and Joseph L. Montgomery of Metairie.
