A Jefferson Parish resident has filed a lawsuit after a U.S. Marshal Service employee crashed into her vehicle and she sustained personal injuries.
Deirdre O. Simmons filed suit against the federal government, William I. Bobo, III and ABC Insurance Agency on Nov. 3 in federal court in New Orleans.
According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 3, 2009, Simmons was traveling eastbound on highway 90B in the left center lane and came to a complete stop due to traffic congestion. While stopped, defendant Bobo crashed into the rear of her vehicle at full force.
Defendant Bobo was an employee of the U.S. Marshal Services at the time of the accident, the suit claims.
The defendants are accused of allowing an employee to operate its vehicle in an unsafe manner and without adhering to the traffic laws and allowing an employee to operate the vehicle in an inattentive manner.
The plaintiff is seeking damages medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, transportation and incidental expenses, emotional pain and suffering, interest and court costs.
Simmons is represented by Gretna attorney Elaine Appleberry.
U.S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle is assigned to the case.
