A New Orleans man is suing the owners of a parking lot where he was shot and robbed.

Hafeth Jabbar names AMPCO Systems Parking Inc., Wilson-Register Property Management and their insurer Liberty Banker's Life Insurance Company in a suit filed Dec. 8 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

The suit claims that the defendants are liable for failure to provide a safe environment for petitioner to park, failure to provide security and failure to warn of unsafe conditions.

The suit also claims that the plaintiff "was caused to suffer severe and grievous injury to body and mind" due to the defendants' alleged negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for past, present and future medical expenses, mental and physical pain and suffering and residual disability.

Jabbar is represented by New Orleans attorney Tim Fields.

Orleans Parish Judge Herbert Cade has been assigned this case.
