Woman sues Wal-Mart for slip and fall on apple slices

An Acension Parish woman is suing Wal-Mart for damages after she allegedly slipped and fell on apple slices that had fallen on the floor.

Susan Imbraguglio filed suit in the 23rd Judicial District Court on Dec. 8. Imbraguglio's case asserts she was coming out of the restroom when she slipped on the fruit then tried to regain her balance by catching a produce table, but fell to one knee. Imbraguglio required surgery on the knee after the fall, the suit claims.

The 23rd Judicial District Court includes Ascension and other parishes.

The premises liability case cites Wal-Mart and then general manager, Gerard Reby, as being negligent in maintaining a safe environment.

The plaintiff is requesting an unspecified amount in damages for all medical costs, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of earnings and disability.

Donald S. Long, of Donaldsonville-based Long & Long Law Firm, is representing Imbraguglio.

The case has been assigned to Section D Judge Jane Triche-Milazzo.

The case number is 102069.
