Prairieville Wal-Mart faces suit after woman allegedly hit by pallet jack

A woman is suing the Prairieville Wal-Mart claiming she was injured after being struck by a pallet jack operated by a store employee.

Janis Immasche filed a suit against Wal-Mart in the 23rd Judicial District Court on Dec. 9. Immasche's case asserts she suffered permanent damage after being struck in the back by a pallet jack that knocked her to the floor. The plaintiff is claiming back and neck trauma, bruises and swelling and stress-related injuries stemming from the incident. 

The 23rd Judicial District Court includes Ascension and other parishes.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought to cover medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent disability and disfigurement and lost wages. 

Wal-Mart is accused of negligence related to failure to warn Immasche before striking her, failure to keep a safe premises, improper employee hiring and retainment practices, inadequate employee supervision and refusal to call for medical help following the incident. 

New Orleans-based attorney Adam S. Lambert brought the suit on behalf of Immasche.
