Woman sues after being hit by car in Wal-Mart parking lot

DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish woman is suing a woman she says hit her with her car in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Wanda Fernandez filed suit in the 23rd Judicial District on Dec. 29 against Lois Johnson, the driver of the vehicle, and her insurance provider. Fernandez claims she was injured after being struck by Johnson's vehicle while walking in the store's parking lot. The specific injuries received by Fernandez were not listed in the suit.

Fernandez asserts the defendant was negligent for failing to maintain proper lookout, failure to exercise necessary caution, failure to act as a prudent and reasonable driver and operating her vehicle in a reckless manner.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought to cover pain and suffering, medical and pharmaceutical expenses, mental anguish and emotional turmoil and enjoyment of life.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Alvin Turner, Jr.
