Entergy files suit against Sewerage and Water Board over alleged property damage

NEW ORLEANS - A New Orleans energy provider is suing the government entity in charge of sewer and water services to the city for damage caused to a company facility.

Entergy filed suit in Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Jan. 10 against the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board.

The plaintiff claims the board damaged its property at 1123 Royal St. during construction near the site. Entergy alleges the defendant is responsible for repair and reconstruction of the facility. Damages requested are limited to $16,287.52.

The case aims to prove negligence by the board in destructing property belonging to the plaintiff, failing to inspect the work area, failing to contact plaintiff to find out location of existing facilities before beginning the project and failing to maintain sufficient control of its construction equipment.

Entergy is being represented by in-house counsel Catharine Ohlsson Gracia.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
