Drug testing service sued for allegedly contaminating man's drug test sample

DONALDSONVILLE – A California man is suing an unknown worker at a Gonzales drug testing firm for allegedly contaminating his drug test.

Corey Williams filed suit on Feb. 27 in the 23rd Judicial District against Gulf Coast Occupational Medicine, its insurer, an unknown employee and other associated companies.

Williams claims his drug test sample was contaminated when the unknown employee took his hair sample and wiped it across a table before placing it in a tube. The plaintiff claims he is unable to obtain work in his field due to the contaminated sample. The defendants are accused of improperly collecting the hair sample, not maintaining cleanliness of the sample, not maintaining the integrity of the drug test and failing to follow standards and procedures.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for loss of income and injury to the plaintiff's work reputation.

Williams is being represented by Baton Rouge-based attorney Jennifer E. Gauthreaux.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Guy Holdridge.
