Wal-Mart sued by pregnant Jefferson Parish woman who fell over box

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local Wal-Mart for injuries she claims occurred on its premises.

Constant M. Alexander filed suit on April 2 against Wal-Mart Louisiana, LLC in the 23rd Judicial District Court.

Alexander claims she was eight-and-a-half-months pregnant when she was shopping at the Marerro Wal-Mart and tripped over a box and fell face first into a shelf. The plaintiff claims she sought treatment for injuries to her back and left knee, as well as her mind.

Damages not to exceed $75,000 are sought for medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering, mental anguish, inconvenience, restriction of activity and loss of enjoyment of life.

Alexander is being represented by New Orleans-based attorney Ford T. Hardy.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen S. Kovach.
