Gonzales Wal-Mart sued in slip and fall; video surveillance at question

DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish woman is suing a local Wal-Mart for injuries she claims happened on its premises.

Mindy M. Weily filed suit on April 9 against Wal-Mart Store Inc. in the 23rd Judicial District Court.

Weily claims she was exiting the cash register area at the Gonzales Wal-Mart when she slipped in a puddle of water and fell to the ground. The plaintiff claims she injured numerous parts of her body including those to her back, neck, various muscle and neck strains and sprains and knee damage.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep the premises clear of situations that present an unreasonable risk, failing to clean up slip hazards on the floor and failing to reveal video surveillance of the fall.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical injuries, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of wage and disability.

The plaintiff is being represented by Charles S. Long of Donaldsonville-based Long and Long Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Ralph Tureau.
