Department of Transportation sued by contractor for breach of contract

Murphy J. Foster

NEW ORLEANS – An Illinois-based construction company is suing a state agency for allegedly providing faulty information on a highway project bid.

T.J. Lambrecht Construction, Inc. (TJL) filed suit on May 24 in the 19th Judicial Civil District Court against the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LDOTD).

TJL claims it based a project bid it won on faulty information and plans provided to them by LDOTD. The plaintiff alleges that it only found out that the defendant breached its implied warranty after entering into the work agreement. TJL asserts LTOD ordered it to perform construction work not included in the contract and refused to compensate additional time and costs.

Damages in the amount of not less than $4 million are sought by the plaintiff.

T.J. Lambrecht Construction, Inc. is represented by Murphy J. Foster of Baton Rouge-based Breazeale, Sachse and Wilson, LLP.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Janice Clark.

Case number 612424.
