Asbestos case filed by Baron & Budd

Steve Baron

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing a number of defendants he claims contributed to his contraction of lung cancer.

Pearson Long filed suit against Eagle, Inc. et al in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 21. Long claims Eagle, Inc. and 16 other defendants involved in the mining, manufacture, sale, installation and removal of asbestos products are responsible for his contraction of mesothelioma.

He claims to have worked at numerous job sites over his career where asbestos products were prevalent. Long asserts he contracted mesothelioma, has increased susceptibility to other diseases and has mental anguish related to those conditions caused by his exposure to asbestos materials.

The defendants are accused of withholding information from the plaintiff on the dangers of handling asbestos materials.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain, medical expenses, physical impairment, permanent partial disability, the likelihood of contracting other cancers, medical monitoring, loss of earning capacity, domestic help, nursing care and prevention of enjoying the full benefits of life.

Long is represented by Baton Rouge-based Baron & Budd, P.C.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates, IV.

Case no. 2012-06132.
