Man sues after allegedly stepping on live power line in store parking lot

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing a number of plaintiffs for injuries he received when he received electrical shock.

Jerry Northrop filed suit on behalf of his minor daughter against Entergy Corporation, CVS Pharmacy, Inc., JEC Funding and Thirty Three Forty Thre, LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 12.

Northrop claims he was a customer at the CVS located at 3345 Metairie Road in Metairie when he was walking on the parking lot and stepped on a high voltage wire and was hocked. The plaintiff asserts he lost consciousness.

Northrop alleges his minor daughter was alerted to the problem when the lights inside the store blacked out and she went outside to find her father lying in a puddle on the ground adjacent to a light pole. The plaintiff's daughter is claimed to have summoned the store's staff who called an ambulance to the scene.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe environment for customers, failing to correct a dangerous condition, violating numerous Louisiana civil codes, failing to supervise employees and failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional pain and suffering, medical bills and lost wages.

Northrop is represented by Metairie-based attorney's Myles Steib and Julie Anne Gardner.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner.

Case no. 716-989.
