Harrah's sued by woman who claims slot machine door fell on her

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans woman has sued a local casino for injuries she claims to have received on its premises.

Gizelle Smith filed suit against Jazz Casino Corporation in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 16. Smith claims she was sitting in front of a slot machine at Harrah's Casino in New Orleans when the slot machine door fell on her legs. The plaintiff claims she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain premises, failing to inspect equipment and failing to warn of the danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.

Smith is represented by Ryan J. Hughes of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Paula A. Brown.
