GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish apartment building owner is suing a local pharmacy for damages he claims were caused to his property during a construction project.
Charles Brooks filed suit against Shamrock Construction Company, Inc., GHK Developments and Walgreens Louisiana Company, Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 3.
Brooks claims he owns an apartment complex neighboring the Walgreens located at 4327 Central Ave. in Jefferson which was recently constructed. The plaintiff alleges that heavy equipment demolition on the site resulted in damage to his property.
Brooks asserts that workers on the site were engaged in heavy pile driving that resulted in massive vibrations that caused his property's foundation, masonry, ceilings and sheetrock walls to crack.
The defendant is accused of causing excessive vibrations, causing damages to the complex and causing the property value to go down.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for repair of the building.
Brooks is represented by Tracey Rannals Bryan of Metairie-based Gauthier, Houghtaling & Williams, LLP.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib.
Case no. 717-787.
