Building owner sued by woman who allegedly fell on broken concrete in parking lot
GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a commercial building owner for injuries she claims to have received on its premises.
Carol Watermeier filed suit against United Fire and Casualty Insurance Company and Select Properties in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 3. Watermeier claims she visited a medical establishment located in a Select Properties building located at 3901 Houma Blvd. in Metairie when she fell on broken concrete in the building's parking lot.
Watermeier alleges that she received serious injuries in the fall that required medical care and treatment.
The defendant is accused of maintaining defective premises, failing to keep its parking lot in a safe condition, failing to repair a hole, failing to perform regular safety checks, failing to warn of the danger, failing to exercise due caution and failing to attempt to avoid the incident.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental pain anguish and distress.
Watermeier is represented by attorney Kevin A. Reith of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen J. Windhorst.
Case no. 717-822.
