GRETNA – A nationwide insurer is suing a Massachusetts-based manufacturer and a local installer for damages one of its customers received from a defective water heater.
State Farm Fire and Casualty Insurance Company filed suit against Watts Water Technologies, Inc., an unknown Louisiana-based water heater installer and its insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 10. State Farm claims water damage occurred at a customer's home due to leakage from a water heater manufactured and installed by the defendants. The plaintiffs allege that the tubing material used with water heater degraded and ruptured because it was not adequately stabilized.
The defendant is accused of producing an unreasonably dangerous product, producing an unreasonably dangerously designed product, not providing an adequate warning about the product, failing to warn of the risks and dangers of the product and breach of implied warranty.
Damages in the amount of $30,764.82 plus attorney's fees are sought.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
