Zuppardo's sued by woman who allegedly was injured in slip and fall in store

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a Metairie grocery store for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on its premises.

Natalie L. Chatelan filed suit against Economical Supermarket, Inc., Zuppardo's Supermarket and United Fire Group in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 17. Chatelan claims that while she was shopping at the Zuppardo's located at 5010 Veterans Hwy. in Metairie she slipped in a liquid substance and fell to the store's floor. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries to numerous parts of her body in the fall that later necessitated surgery.

The defendant is accused of exposing patrons to a condition that presented an unreasonable harm, creating or having knowledge of the hazardous condition and failing to exercise reasonable care in maintaining a safe condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain, suffering, anxiety, distress, depression, mental anguish, medical expenses, diminished enjoyment of life and lost wages.

Chatelan is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Donald L. Rose, III.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Patrick J. McCabe.
