NEW ORLEANS – The parents of a deceased New Orleans rehab center resident claim that the center is responsible for the death of their daughter.

Cecilia Harper and DuvuriDeVall, individually and on behalf of their deceased daughter and mother, EquillaDeVall, filed a lawsuit against CPlaceTimberwood SNF, LLC d/b/a Carrington Place of New Orleans f/k/a Woodland Village Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Traditions Senior Management and Kundan Gupta on Aug. 15 in the Orleans Parish Central District Court. Harper asserts that her daughter's death was a result of substandard care provided by the defendants.

The defendants are accused of negligence, failure to administer proper care and failure to provide adequate medication.

An unspecified amount is sought for the mental and physical pain and anguish suffered by the deceased, the medical bills incurred by the deceased, loss of consortium and funeral expenses of the deceased.

The plaintiffs are represented by New Orleans-based Mayra S. Scheuermann.

This case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

Case no. 2012-08034.
