GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing his former employer for allegedly retaliating against him for successfully pursuing a workers’ compensation claim.

Calvin B. Elstrott filed suit against Crescent Materials Services, Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 2. Elstrott claims that he began working with Crescent Materials Services in 2000 and filed a workers’ compensation claim that was settled on Aug. 3 and on Aug. 6 he was terminated from his position with the defendant. The plaintiff claims the termination was in retaliation for the workers’ compensation claim.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for conscious pain and suffering, physical injury, mental distress, humiliation, emotional distress, loss of income and employment, loss of benefits, loss of wages, loss of anticipated wage, loss of promotion, damages allowed under the laws of the state of Louisiana, attorney’s fees, judicial interest and costs and interest on attorney’s fees.

Elstrott is represented by Gonzales-based attorney Jean-Paul Robert.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Hans J. Liljeberg.

Case no. 720-746.
