GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a Metairie shopping center for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on its premises.
Linda Laborde, and husband John, filed suit against Severn Village Shopping Center, Inc., Colony Insurance, Colony Speciality and Bill Bruce Larkin in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 6. Laborde claims she was at a the Tyger Gift Store located at the Severn Village Shopping Center located at 3030 Severn Ave. in Metairie when she stepped down from the walkway in front of the building and fell. The plaintiff alleges that her fall was due to uneven concrete or a hole in the parking lot. Laborde asserts that she received severe injuries in the fall including a broken right foot and ankle that required several surgeries.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises free of defects, failing to warn patrons of dangerous defects and failing to correct a known defect.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of income, loss of earring capacity, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent disability, embarrassment and humiliation.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
