Mvc 380s 150x150

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing the owners of a pair of pit bulls she claims attacked her outside of her apartment.

Christina James, individually on behalf of her minor children and husband Jorel, filed suit against Shahnaz Sultana Ahmed, Khaya Ahmed, Daniel Reyes, Alexis Reyes and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 13.

James claims that as she was trying to enter her apartment owned by the Ahmeds and located at 3735 Bunker Hill Drive in Metairie she was attacked by a pair of pit bulls owned by the Reyeses. The plaintiff alleges that the attack resulted in painful and debilitating injuries. James asserts that the dogs bit her causing injuries to her leg, back and appendix that resulted in physical disfigurement and shock to her nervous system.

The defendant is accused of failing to exercise reasonable care in the control and supervision of their dogs, failing to take reasonable measures to prevent the dogs from inflicting injury unto people, failing to warn the petitioner of the potential hazard and careless disregard for the safety of others.

Damages exceeding $50,000 is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff is also seeking damages on behalf of her children for psychological treatment and mental suffering stemming from seeing their mother attacked by the dogs.

The Jameses are represented by Keith A. Sanchez, Sr. of the New Orleans-based Law Firm of Keith A. Sanchez, Sr., LLC Attorneys at Law.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan.

Case no. 721-047.
