GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish couple is suing a man for breach of contract after he allegedly backed out of a real estate transaction to buy their home.
Garrett and Monica Haab filed suit against Ryan Anderson, Latter & Blum, Inc. and Glenda Bach in the 24th Judicial District. The Haabs claim they entered into an agreement brokered by Glenda Bach of Latter & Blum to sell their home to Ryan Anderson. The plaintiffs claim they came to an agreement with the defendant to buy the home located at 242 Mulberry Drive in Metairie for $1,290,000. The Haabs assert that Anderson agreed to buy the home and made a deposit of $10,000, but Bach later faxed a contract cancellation to the Haabs that they rejected. The plaintiffs claim they showed up at a title company for a meeting that had previously been scheduled to transfer the property from the Haabs to Anderson, but he did not show up.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract and default.
Damages in the amount of $129,000, or 10 percent of the purchase price, are sought in addition to attorney’s and broker’s fees.
The Haabs are represented by Joseph S. Piacun of Metairie-based Gennusa, Piacun & Ruli.
The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
