GRETNA – A New Orleans woman is suing for injuries she claims to have received as a bus passenger.

Connie D. Williams filed suit against National Union Fire Insurance Company, Family Preservation Services and Michael Lasser in the 24th Judicial District Court.

Williams claims she was riding in a Jefferson Parish Transit bus when a vehicle driven by Lasser struck the rear of the bus. Lasser at the time was allegedly working for Family Preservation Services whose vehicle he was driving. The plaintiff asserts that in the accident she sustained injuries to her neck and back resulting in severe pain and disability.

Family Preservation Services is accused of entrusting its vehicle to Lasser.

Lasser is accused of failing to keep his vehicle under control at all times, driving his vehicle with reckless disregard for the safety of others, failing to see what should have been seen, following too closely and rear-ending a preceding vehicle.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental pain and anguish, physical disability and discomfort, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of wages and emotional distress.

Williams is represented by Metairie-based attorney Troy R. Keller.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen S. Kovach.

Case no. 721-497.
