Co-worker sued for Center Plate workplace assault

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man has been sued by a co-worker for an alleged assault at their place of work.

Archie Sampier filed suit against Michael Irvin, Global Staffing Solutions and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Dec. 4. Sampier claims he was working for the Center Plate at the New Orleans Convention Center when he was physically assaulted and battered by Irvin during a workplace dispute. The plaintiff alleges the defendant verbally threatened him and sprayed pepper spray into his face. Sampier asserts that he received severe injuries in the incident including eye irritation, post-traumatic stress disorder and back injury.

The defendant is accused of cussing and threatening, committing a battery, assault, spraying pepper spray into the eyes and face of the plaintiff and inflicting emotional distress on the plaintiff.

An unspecified amount of damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.

Sampier is represented by Scott P. Shea of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.
