NEW ORLEANS - A property development company is suing a New Orleans law office and one of its attorneys for allegedly violating Louisiana Rules of Conduct.

ERB Development, LLC filed a lawsuit against Elkins, PLC and Pamela W. Hammond in the Orleans Parish Central District Court. The plaintiff claims that the defendant provided substandard and negligent legal representation in the course of its work for the plaintiff involving the St. Joe Lofts development project.

Among other things, the defendant is accused of increasing hourly rates without authorization or agreement and attempting to charge the plaintiff excessive fees and cost.

An unspecified amount is sought for all attorneys’ fees incurred while under the defendant’s representation, a 60 percent developer fee and all other sums paid in legal dispute.

The plaintiff is represented by Erik R. Beelman, sole member of ERB Development, LLC.

This case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.

Case no. 2012-10922.
