Woman claims disability after slip and fall at local Winn-Dixie

GRETNA – A New Orleans woman is suing Winn Dixie for injuries she claims to have received on its premises.

Lisa Carter filed suit against Winn-Dixie Montgomery, LLC and its insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 10. Carter claims she was a customer at the Winn-Dixie store located at 1070 Westbank Expressway in Westwego when she slipped on a wet substance on the floor in front of a cooler and fell to the ground. The plaintiff alleges she was seriously injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain its premises, failing to warn guests of hazardous conditions, failing to adequately inspect premises, placing guests in a perilous situation by lack of inspection or maintenance, creating a known defective condition, failing to properly oversee employees and failing to correct a known hazard.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, disability, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of function, scarring and disfigurement.

Carter is represented by John D. Sileo of the New Orleans-based Law Offices of John D. Sileo.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
