NEW ORLEANS – A local realty agency is suing a Lloyd's of London for alleged damages caused by Hurricane Isaac.

Caymen Realty Inc. filed the suit Dec. 4 in the Orleans Parish Central District Court. The plaintiff claims that the defendant has refused to pay pursuant to an insurance policy for damage from rain on the plaintiff’s property as a result of the hurricane.

The defendant is accused of breach of insurance contract, failing to pay the amount of claim due within 60 days after receiving satisfactory proof of loss, adjusting claims in violation of Louisiana statute and bad faith adjusting practices.

An unspecified amount is sought in punitive damage for full reimbursement for property damages, penalties under state statute, attorney’s fees and loss of property.

The plaintiff is represented by Joseph W. Rausch of Jim S. Hall & Associates.

This case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.

Case no. 2012-11290.
