GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish man is suing his employer and a fellow employee who he alleges beat him with a stick on their work premises.

Eddie Patrick filed suit against Ameritech A/C and Heating LLC, Steven Lasseigne and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 26.

Patrick claims he was working for Ameritech and pulled into their business location at 1201 24th St. in Kenner when he saw Lasseigne. The suit says Lasseigne asked him if he had found his work tools and when Patrick answered ‘”no” he alleges Lasseigne pulled a stick from behind his back and began beating him with it.

The plaintiff alleges that the attack resulted in painful, serious and debilitating injuries to his arm, hand and knee that have resulted in the need for ongoing medical care and treatment. Patrick asserts that Lasseigne was acting with Ameritech’s full knowledge and consent.

The defendant Ameritech is accused of failing to exercise the degree of care required by an employer, failing to sufficiently supervise employees, failing to incorporate adequate safeguards to prevent foreseeable risk of injury, failing to provide a safe environment for employees, failing to provide a non-hostile work environment and allowing employees to act in careless and grossly negligent manner.
