Crescent City Connection Police sued by woman who claims she was injured in accident with officer

GRETNA – A New Orleans woman is suing a local law enforcement agency for injuries she claims to have received when an officer allegedly backed into her vehicle in a mall parking lot.

Qiana Taylor filed suit against the State of Louisiana, the Crescent City Connection, a Division of the Department of Transportation and Development and Michelle A. Young in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 24.

Taylor claims she was driving in the parking lot of the Oakwood Mall in Gretna when Young backed into her in a Crescent City Connection police cruiser. The plaintiff alleges she was injured in the accident.

The defendant is accused of careless operation of a motor vehicle, failing to see what should have been seen, negligent collision and failing to maintain a safe lookout.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical bills, physical pain and suffering, medical bills, property damages, mental anguish and emotional distress.

Taylor is represented by Jacqueline L. Savoie of New Orleans-based Savoie & Savoie Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
