NEW ORLEANS – A local retailer is being sued by a patron who allegedly slipped and fell on the store's premises.

Quiann Massey filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC, Wal-Mart Stores and Wal-Mart in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on Feb. 7.

Massey claims that while shopping at the defendant's store she slipped and fell in water or foreign substances that were on the floor due to the alleged negligence of the defendant and its employees.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain its premises in a safe condition, failing to warn customers of the existing dangers and allowing foreign substances to be on the floor of their establishment.

An unspecified amount is sought for all sustained injuries, pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages.

Attorney Robert Hughes of New Orleans will represent Massey in court.

This case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.

Case no. 2013-01222.
