Former security guard files lawsuit, claims boss said she was 'too old'

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing her former employer for alleged age discrimination.

Elaine Aderholt filed suit against Metro Security Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on March. 8.

Aderholt, who is over 40 years old, claims she began working for Metro Security on Jan. 2, 2006 and that after about six years of employment her boss told her the she was too old to work in security. The plaintiff alleges she made a complaint to management, but nothing was done. In fact, Aderholt asserts following her complaint she faced retaliation and was fired.

The defendant is accused of discrimination based upon age, violation of state law, intentional infliction of emotional distress, retaliation and failing to supervise employees.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for emotional pain and suffering and lost wages.

Aderholt is represented by Myles Steib of Metairie-based Gardner & Steib.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.

Case no. 724-652.
