Contractor sued over unpaid fees for Jefferson Parish work

Breach of contract

GRETNA – A contractor for a Jefferson Parish owned facility is being sued by a subcontractor for allegedly not paying for materials and labor.

Contrast Construction LLC filed suit against CATCO General Contractors LLC and the Hanover Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on March. 14.

Contrast Construction LLC claims it was subcontracted by CATCO General Contractors to help construct Jefferson Parish’s new East Bank Maintenance Facility located at 211 Arnoult Drive in Jefferson.

The plaintiff claims it is still owed $39,595.77 for materials delivered and work performed on the project. Contrast Construction asserts it installed metal stud sheathing, drywall, insulation, exterior sheathing, gypsum board and ceiling tiles in the building. The plaintiff claims it was paid 11 times for a total of $197,447.56 for work on the project, but was never paid a 10 percent retainer withheld from all payments until the job was complete.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $39,595.77 plus attorney’s fees are sought by the plaintiff.

Contrast Construction is represented by attorney Richard R. Schulze of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.

Case no. 724-831.
